Olive oil has been a staple of the Greek diet for thousands of years and the benefits it brings to our lives are famously known but do you really know how to use this golden-green elixir properly?

Join Alia for an evening of everything olive oil. The good stuff too!

Alia El Askalany is a renowned chef with years of dedicated training and experience. Founder of Lulu's Kitchen, Alia has brought her knowledge of food to an international stage from her home country of Egypt and beyond.

In 2022, Alia became the first Egyptian female chef certified by ONAOO Scuola in Liguria as a professional olive oil taster—adding a highly specialized sensory dimension to her work. She has collaborated with leading regional brands, designed culinary experiences across Egypt, the Mediterranean and India, and continues to share her philosophy through workshops, tastings, recipe development, and consultancy.

The Olive Oil Tasting Experience at OEP is an upgraded experience. Curated by Alia and using a selection of premium Greek olive oils from LADOLEA plus one surprise Egyptian oil you will learn how to use olive oil to its potential.

Beginning with a presentation to understand better the history, cultivation, use and cultural relevance of olive oil, Alia will talk you through everything you need and want to know.

Samples of olive oils will be used to learn to taste, it's a sensory class that will surprise you and teach you what you need to know when selecting the correct olive oil for future use. A tasting card printed on seed-filled paper from Conseederate is provided for your notes.

The sensory journey continues with a food pairing session. Learn how different olive oils pair with various foods, some of which you will find surprising.

The evening is complimented by a generous, indulgent grazing platter of well-paired items all selected by Alia. Enjoy the food and the olive oil and practice your new-found skills in the world of olive oil. Sparkling water has been provided by Souroti, a Greek water company with heritage and the perfect accompaniment to every meal.
